Check-mig Colombia : Eligible nationalities and procedure

Check-mig or online pre-registration (Migración Colombia) is a compulsory step for anyone wishing to travel to Colombia. This system was set up by the Colombian government to facilitate migration checks when travellers enter and leave the country.

Nationalities exempt from visa requirements and eligible for Check-mig Colombia

Nationals of many countries are exempt from visa requirements for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days in Colombia. However, they must register using the mig-MIG verification tool developed by Migración Colombia.

These countries include :

- The member countries of the European Union - The countries of the Schengen Area - The United Kingdom - The United States of America - Canada - Australia - New Zealand

It should also be noted that certain Latin American countries are eligible for this visa exemption, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and many others. Nationals of other countries: visa and Check-mig Colombia

Nationals of non-visa-exempt countries must obtain a visa from the relevant Colombian consulate. This visa may be a tourist, business, work or student visa, depending on the reason for the trip.

However, even with a visa, these travellers must also complete the Check-mig form online before arriving in Colombia.

This stage is used to check entry to and exit from Colombian national territory.

Online pre-registration

The Check-mig Colombia process must be initiated by travellers at least 24 hours before their departure and no more than one week before their journey (if you use our services, we would like you to submit your application as soon as possible). 5 days beforehand to ensure that your file is complete). Validation and presentation of the Colombia Check-mig

Once all the required information has been entered in the form and you have paid, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with the details of your request. The ChekMig will be emailed to you a few days later. This document must be printed out and presented to the Colombian immigration authorities when you enter or leave the country. It is also advisable to keep an electronic copy of the document on your mobile phone or tablet in case the paper copy is lost or damaged during the journey.
